# Users and roles

Invite team members and control what they can do.

Every account has an administrator, normally the person who created the account. Administrators manage users from the **Account** menu at the bottom left of the portal, under **Users**.

## Invite a user

1. Go to **Account > Users** and start an invitation.
2. Enter the person's **First name**, **Surname** and **Email address**.
3. Choose their identity document type, **ID number** or **Passport**, and enter the number. For a South African ID number, gender and date of birth are filled in from the ID. For a passport, enter the **Gender** and **Date of birth**.
4. Choose any roles in addition to **Default user**, which every user has.
5. Select **Send invitation**. The person receives an email with a link to set a password and activate their account.

## User roles

| Role                  | Access                                                                     |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Default user** | Signs in and runs verifications for the account. Every user has this role. |
| **Administrator** | Manages users on the account, including invitations and roles. |
| **Client auditor** | Reviews the system and its records on behalf of a client. |
| **Finance officer** | Opens billing and usage statements for the account. |
| **Reviewer** | Reviews transactions. Cannot start consumer, commercial or batch checks. |
| **Workflow operator** | Opens subjects, tasks, cases and configuration for the account. |

Give each user only the roles they need.

## Manage users

From **Account > Users**, administrators can:

* Edit a user's details and roles, or assign roles to several users at once.
* Reset a user's password.
* Deactivate a user who no longer needs access, or reactivate them later. You cannot deactivate your own user.

Review access regularly and deactivate users who no longer need the account.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.fraudcheck.co.za/product/administration/administration/account/users-and-roles.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
