# Business watchlist: comprehensive

Screens a company against sanctions, PEP, adverse media and regulatory lists with a scored, auditable outcome.

Runs a company through Fraudcheck's commercial decision engine, screening it against global sanctions, PEPs, adverse media and regulatory lists in one request. It returns a scored, auditable outcome combining watchlist hits and negative news. It is the broader alternative to [Business watchlist: basic](/product/products/screening/watchlist/business-basic.md), adding adverse media coverage.

## How it works

The decision engine screens the company against watchlists and news and media sources together. Results can be retrieved again later.

## What it returns

An overall result with the decision engine's status and decision text, reason codes explaining the outcome, and separate match counts and records for watchlist hits and news hits. Watchlist matches carry the source agency, list type, region and any identifying details on the listing (date of birth, nationality, address and gender). News matches carry the article's category (for example fraud or corruption), an excerpt, sentiment, source link and publication date.

## Inputs required

The company's registered name and the reason for the enquiry. There is no registration number input on this variant.

## Data source

Global sanctions, PEP, adverse media and regulatory lists, through Fraudcheck's commercial decision engine.

## Consent and permissible purpose

You must confirm on each request that consent has been obtained. See [Consent and permissible use](/product/overview/how-it-works/consent.md).

## Channels

Portal and API. For request and response detail, see the [API reference](https://developer.fraudcheck.co.za/commercial-service/aml-+-watchlist-screening/watchlist-comprehensive).

## Outcomes

Accept, Review or Reject, with reason codes.

## Turnaround

Typically under 10 seconds. Allow up to 90 seconds, because the decision engine can take longer when processing several watchlists.

## When to use it

Full AML and sanctions screening for business onboarding, compliance checks that need a scored, auditable outcome, or any screening that needs negative news and watchlist results together.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.fraudcheck.co.za/product/products/screening/watchlist/business-comprehensive.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
