# Verification

Confirm that an identity, document, address, bank account, qualification or business is real, and that it belongs to the person or business presenting it.

Confirm that an identity, document, address, bank account, qualification or business is real, and that it belongs to the person or business presenting it.

## What it covers

Verification establishes who or what you are dealing with before anything else happens. It covers identity and biometric checks, document authentication, address confirmation, bank account verification, driver's licence verification, qualification checks and business verification.

## Capabilities

* [Identity and biometric verification](/product/products/verification/identity.md): Confirm an identity is real and belongs to the person presenting it.
* [Document verification](/product/products/verification/documents.md): Authenticate identity documents and extract their data.
* [Address verification](/product/products/verification/address.md): Confirm an address history or property ownership.
* [Bank account verification](/product/products/verification/bank-account.md): Confirm a bank account exists and matches the account holder.
* [Driver's licence verification](/product/products/verification/drivers-licence.md): Verify a driver's licence against Department of Transport records.
* [Education and qualification verification](/product/products/verification/qualifications.md): Confirm matric and tertiary qualifications.
* [Business verification](/product/products/verification/business.md): Confirm a registered business, its directors and its principals.

## How it connects

Verification checks are usually the first step in an onboarding journey, and the foundation that [Screening](/product/products/screening.md) and [Monitoring](/product/products/monitoring.md) build on. Run any check on its own, or combine several into one journey with [Digital onboarding](/product/platform/platform/digital-onboarding.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.fraudcheck.co.za/product/products/verification.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
